The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Mokokchung was set up in the year 2003 with 57.4. acres of land at Yisemyong provided by the Department of Agriculture, Govt. of Nagaland. The host Institute is the Directorate of Agriculture, Govt. of Nagaland. The actual activities started functioning from the month of May 2006 after the appointment of multidisciplinary team in six disciplines viz. Agronomy, Plant Protection (Entomology), Horticulture, Genetics & Plant Breeding, Vety & AH and Extension. The station was officially inaugurated by Dr. C.D. Mayee Chairman Agricultural Scientists’ Recruitment Board ICAR New Delhi on 26th July 2006. The foundation stone for the Administrative Building was laid by Shri. Neiphiu Rio Hon’ble Chief Minister of Nagaland on 25th Sept 2007. The Centre is located at 1050m above msl and is 17 km away from district Headquarter Mokokchung. The nearest railway station and airport is located at about 100 kms and 118 kms away from the centre at Mariani and Jorhat, respectively. With its multidisciplinary team, it test, assess and refine various technologies both on station and off station, imparts training on the latest advances in agriculture and allied sectors. It also focuses on innovative and workable technologies and materials that have immediate application in the farmers’ field and plan future strategies for all round development and boost production and productivity. |
